my in between hairstyles look

I'm gonna start wearing this lip colour frequently now. When I had really big hair I couldn't really wear the lip colour because I looked a bit like a hooker...it was just too much going on at once

I want to wear this again, but it's been photographed

So, the main reason why I don't really like being photographed, unless I'm wearing black, is because then I feel like I can't ever wear the outfit again. If I lived in a world with a big ass wardrobe and I had lots of money and people didn't break into my flat and steal my clothes and shoes, I would probably not repeat outfits, but I don't. Besides, I love this outfit because it involves one of my favourite bags, my mother's gorgeous belt and the blouse my sister bought for me, so I wanna wear it again, but it's been photographed.

kissey asplund

So I know I might be a bit behind on this. In fact I know I am a bit behind on this, because the more people I speak to confirm that I am a bit behind on this. What is this "this" I speak of? Well, I'm referring to the music and musings of miss Kissey Asplund. I discovered Ms Asplund and decided that her "dopeness factor is high" - that's a McQueenism people - after my little sister sent me pictures of her hair styles as inspiration for what I should do next with my hair. I still have no clue what I'm going to do with my hair tomorrow morning, but I'm finding every single track I can find to listen to of miss Kissey and reading her blog http://www.blogger.com/www.somewhatstrangelife.blogspot.com, cos like I said " her dopeness factor is high." I love her version of Radiohead's "Creep." The song itself is beautiful as a standalone, but she really sings it like she wrote it, like a girl wrote it to begin with. nike cape/burg book launch

Photobucket
The Nike Air Max 1 is back. Last week Thursday (I know I am violently behind on posting) I accidentally, but on purpose ended up at the Cape/Burg Book Launch at the Nike Gallery on 4th in Melville. It was one of those invite only events, so I was really glad that I wore something pretty decent that morning and that the day's stress hadn't taken a major toll on my face and energy. I sat at table of strangers I knew from the pages of magazine and the television screens and felt like I was at a wedding. You know that scenario? When you’ve been invited to a wedding and because you’re single or a work colleague, you get randomly slotted in at the singles table. Well, if it was a wedding then it would have been one of the dopest weddings ever because my table had Aspasia Karras from The Frock Report, Giuseppe Russo from One Small Seed and Bafana Bafana soccer player Siphiwe Tshabalala, who everyone was giving a hard time because our team had just lost to Iceland. Let’s not get into that...shame poor guy.

craig native - still one of my favourite designers

My adoration for Craig Native started partly because of Lenny Kravitz and partly because I thought he was really sexy and just the kind of guy I would like to be with. So then I forced myself to take interest in other parts of his life, as you do when you like a guy and allowed myself to become a fan of his work. Of course it wasn't hard to do, because the man is talented and aware. By that I mean, he knows how to draw from the South African and African motifs that which is relevant and incorporate and appropriate it into pieces and designs that are reflective of this here era. His new range titled Afrique Sportif pays tribute to the forgotten sports heroes of South Africa who were unable to take part in sports events because of apartheid sanctions.

jhung yuro and true ambition in sa

I'm excited for Halloween, cos I wanna wear and eye patch (I don't know why, but I do), but I'm also excited for the Sneaker Lounge Event happening at Munks Concept Stores next week Saturday. The event will showcase two new brands from New York - Jhung Yuro and True Ambition Slick. I like kicks and heels...I'm a shoe girl, that's all you need to know.

i has always been stylin on ninja's

I love this photograph and the story my parents always tell about this photograph. Apparently the boots I'm wearing in this picture were real leather, but looking closely at the picture now, I doubt they were. Anyways, the point is the little girl in the picture believed that the boots were real leather, and apparently when she was give the clearly pleather skirt she pointed out that she only wears real leather! I love that story... I'm gonna tell it to my children

when i need to laff

He he he... I think that this is the funniest thing ever.
Really... it cracks me the phuck up every time I look at it. It's also really profound (trust me to find something like this profound). I'm in this weird place right now where I feel like I need to form my own identity and the only solution I can think of is to break away. Melodramatic... I know. I feel like I have become part of a group and stereotype, if you will and it isn't me anymore. I wonder if it ever was me? Looking in the mirror is tough when you don't really know who's looking back at you - that was super intense, and I feel obliged to follow that with something humorous based on the fact that I don't want to be intense...but I got nothing. I don't know who my best friend is anymore...heavy boots mayne

burberry prorsum spring / summer 2010

I saw the video of the runway show and I couldn't resist posting about it...Burberry Prorsum's Spring / Summer 2010 runway show is beautiful. I am enamored with the ever so subtle, safari inspired knotted detailed skirts, blouses, jackets and dresses. With a fresh take on safari greens, by incorporating luscious aqua-tones, mint greens and even veering away completely from the greens with gentle pinks and blues, the collection feels light feminine, strong, and special. I am in love...Oh, and I'm only talking about the chicks clothes, cos that's all I really care about...

50% sale at Hautey Toitey!!!

I am a shopping addict. I got this message on facebook and literally left the office and missioned to Hautey Toitey and told a big fat lie that I was going to the bank. I know it's bad to lie, but I really can't help myself when fashion is involved. Anyways, I found this gorgeous brown Diesel jacket, a simple yet beautiful grey vest with black sequinned neckline and bust detail and a royal blue vintage jacket that I think will complete my world. There was this beautiful, delicate vintage lace black blouse, which nearly brought me to tears, but it was way to tiny for me...which made me sad and go back to the office and drink water and not have lunch. Now that I've been there you can all go through cos I'm done with shopping for the month...done. The next big spend I make will be on furniture. So, go through to Hautey Toitey, there are actually gorgeous Diesel, Armani, Mango, Zara items all on 50% sale. The shop is no 22, 4th Street Parkhurst , opposite Solly Kramers. It's open Tuesdays to Fridays from 11.00 - 16.30 and Saturdays from 10.00 to 13.00. I need help...
