a stone's (town) throw away
I am practicing The Secret right now. I am hoping that if I send out enough messages into the universe that somehow I will venture back to Stone Town...on holiday this time. I sent out messages into the universe about wanting to work in fashion and look what happened, so I'm pretty hopeful. I was in Zanzibar for a really short time and my time in Stone Town was spent location scouting, lugging around heavy equipment, clothing and shoes, taping up models shoes, running around like a crazy person in the hottest weather I have ever experienced organising lunch and such, but it was really the most magical time I have ever had.
Stone Town is a beautiful, derelict and spiritual place. With so much to look at in every crevice and around every corner whilst dodging bicycle's and Vespa's -Amsterdam style - the tiny streets and alley ways of the ancient town left me convinced I could live there. Beauty can do that...

I took this picture in some alley way I struggled to find later...almost got knocked over by a Vespa whilst doing it

saying goodbye
I hate throwing away shoes or clothes. It breaks my heart to do it and leaves me feeling like I need to immediately replace them with something else to fill the empty space where they once resided.

I had to throw away these pumps yesterday evening because frankly, I had worn them out. Granted, they were super cheap, but they were black, studded and comfortable so I loved them. Goodbye pretty black studded pumps.

a is for awesome
The cool and awesome folks from we-are-awesome are hosting a party called A IS FOR AWESOME in collaboration with ADIDAS ObyO - this Friday, 20 November at the Tafelberg Tavern, 105 Hope Street, Cape Town. I wish I could be there and partake in the mayhem, but alas I'll be here.
I love we-are -awesome. Look at this pretty picture they took of me http://www.we-are-awesome.com/nights/musicmachinejhb/img_0098.html. My boobs look fantastic. Actually it looks like I have boobs.

25 and i'm still here

So I turned 25 on Friday the 13th and I have to say that I'm not feeling that different at all. In fact I feel the same. But then again, that's every birthday for me. I always feel the same. I don't feel different, but everyone around me is making insinuations that I need to be different and think differently and possibly even become a different version of myself. A more grown up version, who wants to get married and have children in the next year or two. But I am not ready to be the version of me, just yet. I still need to be the version that travels and lives in Japan for awhile. The version that goes to Vietnam and sits in café's in Amersterdam. The version that lives in a studio apartment in Paris and runs in the rain on the way to the underground in London. I just feel like a chapter hasn't been written in my book and that makes me nervous, but I'm also slightly petrified because I don't want the chapter above to write out my baby making and wife-being stage.

his and her in v magazine

Although issue 62 of V Magazine is out already with my favourite actress Natalie Portman on the cover, I am really enamoured with the "His & Her" editorial in issue 61 with Lady Gaga on the cover. I think it's because I'm in love right now and anything that is about couples gets my little heart beating faster. My boy doesn't exactly style on ninja's and we wouldn't make the best dressed couple's list, but he looks great in black and he looks even better on my arm or next to me. Although I think we'd look pretty fantastic in the Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci look - or I'd look fantastic in that pantsuit and those shoes... oh those shoes

doe presents----electric feel-------aka our 'hello' party

"ABOUT DOE:
"Doe was born in 2006 amidst a haze of cigarette smoke and empty wine bottles. A group of Cape Town girls got together- fed up with men and ugly clothes they grabbed the proverbial scissors and started to create their own range of t-shirts. Yang Zhao is remembered as the leader of this crazy pack and the last standing of the originals. Realising the task of creating a brand all on your own was too big so she threw open the doors and allowed in two new bitches as crazy as she was. Enter Carine Nguz and Anthea Poulos. The three ladies keep Doe the creative force that it is.
FFWD>>2009 and Doe is ready to release their first full summer range of tees and tights. The new collection will feature shit hot collaborations with Spoek Mathambo of Playdoe and Sweat.X fame, Brett Rubin photographer extraordinaire and Mafuta Ink to name a few. The ladies bring you style and comfort that is so blistering you simply can’t argue with it. Doe represents creativity, individuality, strength and collaboration.
True greatness doesn’t discriminate, so, whether you’re a thug or a lady we got you.
For now wear your Doe tee like it’s the greatest t-shirt you never knew you owned. And if you like it, tell your friends."

pink lyte in cleo magazine

My friends and I have this really cool blog: www.pinklyte.blogspot.comm. It started off as a way for us to advertise the party we were going to throw and then to also create an ideology surrounding our company, which has morphed from an events company to a PR company to a consultancy company. The truth is we can do all of the above because between the three of us we have the skill set to do all of the above. Anyways, so we are featured in the November issue of Cleo Magazine as Style Bloggers...and I guess it's going to put pressure on us now to actually be stylish and blog about stylish people and events. In retrospect, I'm not enjoying my outfit very much. I feel like I got carried away and wanted to wear all of my favourite pieces. Oh well, who knows when I'll be featured in a magazine again...

very cool dossier

The new issue of Dossier magazine has Dita Von Teese on the cover, which is why I bought it. I love her! The Fairy Tale spread which features Sanché Frolich as Little Red riding Hood is also really wonderful...
