how do you get changed? by jessica sutherland

Last night Lisof held their 17th annual Fashion Show and Student Exhibition at the Sandton Convention Centre.  I don’t have pictures, because I stupidly took a camera with a flat battery and I didn’t feel like taking photos on my BlackBerry, but I feel that it is my duty to blog about my new favourite designer: Jessica Sutherland and how incredibly talented she is.

I wish I had pictures to show you how talented this girl is. Her collection titled “How do you get changed?” was everything I love – simple and beautiful, yet layered and complex.  A well thought through collection made up of a range of clothing that could be worn in different ways by undoing, unzipping or untying. Coats were transformed into cropped jackets by unzipping a piece of fabric and a simple pair of tapered pants were invigorated with sculptural finesse by undoing a button. There was really a sophistication in her work that surpassed her peers to be quite honest.

Anyways, I’m going to make sure I get myself a piece of her work before she becomes famous and I can’t afford it…
