21 Feb Loving: Jo Malone Fragrances
Today was a really kak day. After spending the entire day chained to my desk trying to furiously get through mountains of work, I felt like I wanted to kill someone by the time I escaped the office and made my way to the Jo Malone Tasting Bar™ in Stuttafords, Sandton. Luckily for me, because the universe loves me – the fragrance session at the Jo Malone Tasting Bar™ and the hand massage erased the stress and woes of the day and left me feeling like I need to figure out a way to be a kept woman asap.
Before I say anything about my experience at the Jo Malone Tasting Bar™ in Stuttafords, Sandton, I would like to remind you all that I like nice things. I like nice sneakers, nice hand bags, nice heels, nice music, nice clothes etc. I like nice things. And because I work in a creative field I don’t really get to spend a whole lot of money on nice things or get to experience nice things, which is why when I asked to go in store for Jo Malone™ experience, I said yes before the question even ended. That’s also why I’m ridiculously chuffed about my gift to myself – my Jo Malone™ Red Roses fragrance.
“Having rewritten the rules of perfumery by mixing unexpected combinations of ingredients and providing elegant yet playful concepts where scent is used with abandon, the World of Jo Malone™ inspires a loyal following.” A world, which I am now a part of, as I found myself enamored by the nineteen Jo Malone™ fragrances I had the pleasure of being introduced to. Some favourites like Pomegranate Noir, Black Vetyver Café, Vanilla & Anise, Jo Malone’s personal fragrance 154 and my first Jo Malone™ fragrance purchase Red Roses all made it into my notebook of Things I must treat myself to if no one else does it for me.
I don’t normally directly quote press releases, but the words quoted above are apt. From the “unexpected combinations of ingredients” – coriander and basil in a fragrance – to the “loyal following” bit – I bought a 100ml bottle of Red Roses – every word in the excerpt describes my experience at the Jo Malone Tasting Bar™.
I have every intention of expanding my collection because unlike other fragrances, when one combines two, three, four or more scents together the combination doesn’t end up smelling like a really awful toilet spray, but rather like a new scent that still remains fresh and yummy.
So in the spirit of liking nice things and treating myself, the next fragrance on my list is the Pomegranate Noir, and maybe if I feel generous and she behaves herself I’ll buy Thithi the Vanilla & Anise body cream. Gifting oneself is so 2012 I tell you!
