09 Sep “collaborative consumption” at skip’s fashion exchange
On Saturday afternoon I made my way to the Skip Fashion Exchange event at the Hyatt in Rosebank, for a “Swap to Shop” event where I learnt that if you don’t get there first you get nothing. I literally thought I could indulge in some food and catch up with some people I haven’t seen in a while and by the time I walked into the room with all the clothes for the swap to shop experience, everything was gone! So long story short, when the hilarious and gorgeous Noni Gasa used the term “collaborative consumption” in her talk prior to the shopping craze, she had no idea that it would actually be such a mass effort of clearing the rails.
Be sure to get to one of the 3 upcoming Skip Fashion Exchange events happening on the 29th of September and 20th of October in Pretoria and 6th of October in Johannesburg for an ethical and economical shopping experience. We could all do with reducing our carbon foot print and what better way to do it than walking out with a new – to you, but not to someone else – jacket or dress.
Entry to the Skip Fashion Exchange is R120 plus 3 items or more of nearly-new high fashion clothing to swap. You will get champagne and canapes plus a goodie bag valued at R300 when you attend. Contact Tshia Aphiri on 011 300 6700 or email her on firstname.lastname@example.org.
