str.crd 2013

STR.CRD is always a visual feast and this year I literally didn’t know where to look. There were prints, 80s inspired looks, hats, leather, overalls, yesteryear suits, animal print, colour, platforms, print worn from head to toe all ready to be photographed. DSLR cameras were trigger happy (or crazed – depending how you look at it) at Constitution Hill as international guests Street Etiquette and Art Comes First arrived to hoards of fans; proving the power of Internet fame and its ability to create and build brands and careers.
Inspiring talks and conversations with London Takeover guests – Grace Ladoja, Trapstar London, Benji B and Sharmadean Reid from WAH Nails gave insights into the world of street culture, music and a career within that world. The talk which was rather informal and badly produced (to be honest) was saved by the content and could have been inspiring to several more young people had the organisors of STR.CRD 2013 scheduled and planned properly around the STR.SESSIONS – a concept which gets listed on the STR.CRD calendar every year but never gets executed properly.
All in all,  if one considers the number of people who attended, STR.CRD 2013 was a success. However, the value of having international guests with influence and stories to tell was lost as the potential for content generation, educating, networking and access via workshops and the sessions wasn’t maximized and all the international guest basically did was come on holiday to SA to be photographed and take photos.

Really disappointed on whole production, traveled all the way to Joburg for the talks and they didnt happen, we kept being pushed around, really waste of cash. 🙁 Not a bad idea but just not prduced well.

The guy in his matching floral tee and shorts is WAY ahead of the trends…. The top matching bottom thing is only supposed to show face in Summer 14/15. #BALLER absolutely love!

agree with you on the missed opportunity for networking and sharing of knowledge, I booked for and inquired about the talks during registration – was told to never mind.
