Missshape

teeteeiswithmeAs I was typing up the clothing credits of this post, my heart literally started racing when I typed the words Missshape x Thithi Nteta. After months of emails, telephone calls, sketches being sent back and forth, meetings looking at fabric swatches, it is really exciting to touch the product and see how positively everyone is responding to the collection, and to know that Jamal of Missshape and I thought of something that became something. The best part is knowing that we went on the journey together, full of respect for each other and what each one had to bring to the table.

I have been thinking a lot about collaboration and how empires are not built alone. Executing THE WKND SOCIAL every month has taught me this. Collaborating with Jamal Nxedlana from Missshape on this capsule collection has given me this insight. Seeing all of my successful friends running their businesses as friends and business partners reminds me of this everyday.

Empires are not built alone. I am a huge believer in collaboration and sharing ideas. From Pink Lyte, to my family’s business, to the collaborative efforts I am currently involved in, I much prefer, even with its own set of dramas, to do “group work.” It’s just more interesting and a whole lot more rewarding.Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset
