09 Apr Wearing Black
People wear all black for several reasons from convenience to versatility to simply being flattering. I like to wear all black (as often as possible) because I’m a little bit lazy and a little noir never hurt nobody. A little dark and Omen like, a little offbeat and badass; black is Rei Kawakubo, unfussy, Grace Coddington, over-dressed, yet under-dressed, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, classic, Vogue, Audrey Hepburn, sexy, chic, strong and mysterious.
Lazy or not, wearing all black and looking stylish doesn’t happen all on its own and one actually needs to do a few simple things to make sure that committing to darkness, doesn’t make you look like you got dressed in the dark…
Effortless, in its chicness; all black is best when it comes in simple, minimalist, structured lines. It takes centre stage when layered and worn with different textures from faux fur, fringed details, leather, sheer fabrics, denim; black on black in different textures is everything. The key is to understand that understated is the statement you are making.
