12 May Louis Vuitton Sandton City Store Opening
In 2004 Louis Vuitton became the first major luxury brand to arrive in South Africa when they opened their Sandton City Store in Johannesburg. The first time I walked into the store was a stylist to source for a shoot. I remember getting dressed in the morning, absolutely wanting to avoid a Pretty Woman moment. The whole thing was hilarious simply because I had to spend the rest of my morning sourcing from other stores in Sandton City running around in heels and looking like a million bucks whilst pushing a trolley full of shopping bags.
Last week Friday Louis Vuitton opened the doors to their renovated store, at the top of the Diamond Walk in Sandton City. Bigger – at 336 square metres – and even more beautiful than the old store, the official opening of the store on Tuesday 5 May, also marked the simultaneous launch of the Louis Vuitton spring/summer 2015 leather goods and shoes collection by creative director Nicolas Ghesquiére. Dressed in my black blazer from H&M, Witchery jumpsuit and my Louis Vuitton Favourite Mules, I spent
the evening sipping on champagne, catching up with some people I hadn’t seen for a while like the lovely Maps Maponyane, Kojo Baffoe, Trevor Stuurman, Terry Pheto and Jerri Mokgofe whilst coveting my favourite Louis Vuitton handbag the Petite Malle.
