03 Jun The Perfect Black Leather Jacket
Last year I was featured in a jacket story for The Sunday Times Fashion Weekly. Until that point I hadn’t realised how often I cape a jacket over my shoulders in spring and summer, or pair jackets and coats with almost everything. I didn’t realise how many jackets, cardigans, coats etc I own and forget to wear. Given my proclivity to chase summer it is quite bizarre that I own so many outerwear pieces. However, do you know what is even more bizarre? I did not have a black leather jacket until I found this incredible black leather masterpiece from Tiger Of Sweden.
After weeks of telling everyone that my winter shopping will only be focused on finding a black leather jacket; I walked into Tiger Of Sweden in Hyde Park, Johannesburg and the universe worked its magic. Biker inspired and made from incredibly beautiful soft leather this jacket is everything I have always imagined the best leather jacket on earth to be. It’s fitted, rests approximately 5 cm above my derriere, the collar and asymmetrical zip are classic moto-jacket traits and the sleeves are long enough that they extend beyond the wrist bone.
Worn open or closed this jacket is the missing link in my wardrobe and I am really not sure how I lived life this long without a black leather jacket. I can’t think of any piece of outerwear piece I currently own that is as edgy, stylishly cool, transformative and sexy as this jacket. Like, no one can tell me anything when I’m wearing this jacket.
