17 Jul Clarins Bright Plus Range Quick Review
Bright, luminous, even-toned skin doesn’t just happen. As lucky as I am to have relatively blemish free skin and a pimple here and there only during periods of severe stress, my simplistic approach to skincare in my twenties (drinking water, having lots of fruits and vegetables in my diet and wearing sunscreen: that was about it) has required the support of a good and consistent skincare routine.
After getting away with sleeping with make up on after a night out, washing my face before bed roughly twice a month and generally not having a night time skincare routine for years, my skin in 2015 has been reminding lately that I can’t just expect to have good skin, if I am not good to my skin.
Dark spots and blemishes are caused by localised skin hyperpigmentation, which is basically the over-production of melanin in a specific area. This over-production of melanin can be stimulated by various everyday factors like exposure to the sun, pollution, smoking (first and secondhand), to more specific factors like hormonal imbalances, eczema, acne or allergies.
The journey to being good to your skin involves trying many different things from products, to in spa treatments and even at home DIY remedies. This month, I am trying out the Clarins Bright Plus Range, which is formulated to correct uneven skin tone.
Currently on my beauty shelf for review is the Clarins Bright Plus Brightening Repairing Night Cream and Bright Plus Intensive Brightening Smoothing Serum. Both products feature the “hero ingredient” – Sea Lily botanical extract – which is said to help correct dark spots and uneven skin tone by gently fading away blemishes and dark spots.
I would like to start off by saying that if you are tardy like me when it comes to washing your face every night before you go to bed, get a night time skin care routine. Having a night cream to apply – and review – has made my night time skin care routine, exactly that…a routine.
The Clarins Bright Plus Brightening Repairing Night Cream is lightweight, yet surprisingly moisture rich. I use the word surprisingly because in winter my skin is generally quite dull and dry and I find that after using the night cream my skin is hydrated and glowing in the morning.
In conjunction with the night cream, I have started using the Clarins Bright Plus Intensive Brightening Serum. As someone who doesn’t like to apply too much to her face, having a lightweight serum is important – it gets absorbed into the skin quickly with no shine. To get the most out of the range and achieve an even, glowing skin the serum should also be applied in the morning before your daily moisturiser.
