17 Aug Rich Mnisi’s My Fabulous JHB
What more can I say about Rich Mnisi’s My Fabulous JHB collection, except that when I went back to his studio on Saturday morning to look at the pieces in detail; I left even more impressed than when I first saw the collection.
People in Johannesburg use personal style to express their individuality and to tell a story about themselves. When you are trying to navigate your way through this fast paced city where everyone is trying to get something done first impressions are almost always the only thing you have, so it makes sense that people would want what they wear to speak about who they are. This, I believe is what makes Johannesburg the most stylish city in South Africa and it was really amazing to see how this concept was brought to life in Rich Mnisi’s collection for the My Fabulous campaign. He somehow managed to bring together the essence of the actual city, how the people in the city dress all together in a really strong collection.
Lately I have been all about dressing comfortably and making sure that I feel like myself in whatever I am wearing. Life is too short to wear clothes that you don’t immediately feel good in, and for me feeling good in your clothing means that you feel comfortable, which inadvertently comes across as effortlessly stylish. Style isn’t really about the clothes; but more about how you put the clothes together and these two pieces from Rich’s runway collection for the My Fabulous campaign were re and co-styled by Rich and I for a look that reflected more of my personality and who I am. That is what style is about… who you are.
