So Light

The lightest air force 1 everMy New Years Resolution was to not buy anything until May. Only essentials like food and toiletries. On the 28th of January 2016, the Air Force 1 Ultra Flyknit was released and basically I failed at yet another “saving-related” resolution. It’s not my fault though… the Air Force 1, specifically the Lows are one of my favourite sneakers following the Air Max 1. Secondly… this is the lightest air force 1 ever…

A street culture icon, the Air Force 1, in my mind, couldn’t really get any better than what it was. Whilst I appreciated the iterations over its 34 years, from colour way updates to fabrication amendments thus keeping Nike’s most recognizable silhouettes current and fresh, I believed in its classic form it was a classic and no update could really get me that excited.

However, I won’t lie… the Nike Air Force 1 Ultra Flyknit is kind of perfection because of how light it is. Now, I love a good story and I think it is pretty cool that after a team of Nike Sportswear designers wore the Air Force 1 out for 12 hours in Paris during the summer, they came to the conclusion that the AF1 in all its greatness could do with some improvements.

Using Flyknit technology in the upper to create a lighter, more flexible shoe that doesn’t crease on the toe vamp, this sneaker is freakishly light… Like almost like it’s not a real thing, light. In addition to them being approximately half the weight of the original, the silhouette (especially in the women’s styles) is slightly slimmer, which makes me very happy given that I normally only buy and wear lows because I have found the mids and high tops to be too bulky… oh and I think my ankles are pretty.Lightest Air Force 1 Ever
