29 Mar Pond’s Insiders Take New York City
Last year in early December, I was lucky enough to be invited by Pond’s Global on an incredibly memorable trip to New York City, where I met a whole bunch of unbelievably beautiful, fun, intelligent and thoughtful women from India, Indonesia, Korea, Mexico, Philippines, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, and Vietnam. Anyone who spoke to me after the trip knows that I came back completely inspired, motivated and excited to try new things… like start my Youtube channel.
I got access to some of the most incredible experiences like visiting the Unilever R&D center, meeting some of the scientists from The Pond’s Institute, seeing first-hand how products are made and tested – how Pond’s creates products for women and men with unique skincare needs and goals. Did you know that Pond’s was the first to launch Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) in clinically proven Anti-Aging products and was also the first to discover the active anti-ageing ingredient – Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA)!
Another highlight was going to the Google and Youtube offices in the Meatpacking District. But the most memorable part of the trip was the conversations had with all the other women around beauty, perceptions of beauty, confidence and personal strength.
New York, the birthplace of Pond’s, was a blast, even with the cold weather and provided a beautiful backdrop to what was one of my absolute favourite trips to New York. The trip began in Connecticut, where I took a drive through the idyllic neighbourhood and admired how picturesque everything looked. After tiring myself out, I got back to the hotel and met up with some of the other Pond’s Insiders and the team from Pond’s for dinner and drinks.
The next day was literally jampacked. The morning was spent getting some incredibly informative insights into the Pond’s brand, discussing skin care, beauty, skin politics and a very engaging talk by John Gerzema, the author of The Athena Doctrine. Lunch featured one of the best lobster rolls in the world (it needed a mention) and thereafter we headed to the Pond’s Institute where we honestly got a proper BTS of what goes on when a skincare product is being developed.

The rest of the trip was spent in Manhattan. We were incredibly lucky to frequent some lovely restaurants and stay at the Edition Hotel. I stayed on for a couple of days, and did something I was never really able to do on my other trips to New York… Walk around alone, meander through Central Park, walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and sit on a bench by myself in Madison Square Park drinking coffee, listening to music.
