25 Jul Review: Pond’s Flawless Radiance Day Cream
My Dad is a dermatologist. So I have always been aware of the effects of sun exposure on one’s skin. I make it a priority to wear sunscreen when I know I’m going to be outdoors. And up until a couple of weeks ago I thought I was covered when it came to protecting my skin from the sun. I believed that I was doing my absolute best.
That was until I heard about delayed sun damage from The Pond’s Institute scientist at the Pond’s Flawless Radiance event.
Delayed sun damage is the continued damage your skin suffers from sun exposure, even after you step indoors. According to recent scientific studies conducted by The Pond’s Institute, UV rays have become so harsh that it has been proven that these rays can continue to damage skin right down to its deepest layers, for up to 12 hours after sun exposure. This is really scary. If you are like me, you probably never even considered what happens to your skin when you are indoors.
Why is this important?
Well… sun damage is one of the biggest contributing factors to premature ageing when it comes to your skin. And whilst one might like to think that “black don’t crack.”Uneven skin tone, enlarged pores and dry dull skin are just some of the signs that one’s skin is ageing.
What to do? Protect & Repair
Shortly after my Pond’s Insiders trip to New York, I started using the Pond’s Flawless Radiance Day Cream on my skin. I had dark spots and the pores on certain parts of my face where getting larger than I remembered. P.S: For someone who had great smooth skin most of her life this was traumatizing.
After using the day cream almost everyday since January, I can report the following:
- The dark spots and blemishes I had developed have faded. They haven’t completely disappeared, but I am able to go out with just BB cream, concealer to cover my dark under eye circles and mascara.
- The cream is easily absorbed into the skin, which I love because I’m not a fan of products that take a long time to be absorbed by the skin.
- I have combination skin and I have found the product to be sufficient in terms of moisture. I have never found myself feeling like my skin is dry or excessively oily throughout the day.
- The size of my pores in the problematic areas such as around my nose appear smaller.
When it comes to protection against Delayed Sun Damage, Pond’s Flawless Radiance Day Cream contains Titanium Dioxide. This is an active ingredient found in mineral or physical sunscreens designed to reflect UV rays away from the skin. The formulation of the product is obviously impressive, because unlike some other products I have used that contain Titanium Dioxide, the day cream doesn’t leave my skin looking grey. Which for obviously superficial reasons is a good thing.
