Rich Mnisi | One Shirt Two Ways

If you know me, you know that I am a sucker for a 2 for 1 special. So you can imagine how pleased I was when I went to visit my very good friend and favourite designer Rich Mnisi and discovered that I could wear this one shirt two ways, by simply tying four pieces of fabric in a different way.

This Shirt Speaks To My Personal Style

Styled here with wide leg pants from another South African designer Superella, this shirt’s masculine blue and white pin stripe juxtaposed with the two silhouettes that the shirt creates, makes it both masculine and feminine at the same time. This ability to create a tension between contrasts like classic and modern, masculine and feminine is what I identify with when it comes to Rich’s clothing, because my personal style is in some ways about contrasts. As a tomboy at heart, my aesthetic has always been more androgynous. And I have always leaned towards boyish dressing, which is why this shirt appealed to me in the first place. A man’s shirt, with lady like charm.
